After 30 years, I am back in the saddle again. In high school (late 50's and early 60's) I drove Harly 125, Indian Chief and AJS 500 single. Late 60's and early 70 a Triumph 500 twin and a 350 Honda.
Saw the Suzuki 650 several years ago and thought it was a good looking machine and purchased a '96 with 5000 miles a month ago, first ride in 30 years and man have they changed. No tinkering, just get on and go. I am raising cattle in Texas now and most of my riding is on dirt roads and pasture; low center of gravity helpful in negotiating tough spots.
I installed Supertrapp yesterday, no problems, and it now sounds like it should. Have not messed with carb yet as response is quite good and backfire almost totally eliminated, only a lame poof when I turn it off now. I find it has plenty of power on highway and cruises easily at 65- maybe I won't have to modify carb settings. If the exhaust blues fairly rapidly I'll probably try brass plug remedy to richen the fuel mixture.
When I rode in the past, helmets were not required. A helmet and face shield make the ride much more enjoyable, no air blowing in ears and eyes - can really see what is out there - guess I am getting old.
Thanks for this site and all of your posts. I found this site after I bought the bike and it was like finding a gold mine.
The color of my bike is red and it is faded. Could use suggestions for paint (same color) that will not oxidize in this Texas sun.
Thanks again.
Scott
